So... October is upon us, with changing weather etc...

... and we are moving the boat from Peterhead to Inverness next WE for on shore over the winter and as a base for next season...

What could possibly go wrong ?

Journey form hell or a pleasure cruise around Rattray head??

Planning done and pray that weather holds... re-fuel on Friday and set off on Saturday... Boat and Crew ready (they think), camera re-charged.....and weather will decide what happens..

It will be fine Alf, what could possibly go wrong with a boat cruise ;).

What's the total distance and how long have you allowed for travelling time?

Did you read the thread about the North Wales gang planning to invade the Caledonian Canal next May?
Maybe a run down the Great Glen and meet at Drumnadrochit or Fort Augustus?
Could be a bit of fun..:)

Not very far to travel ... between 90 and 100 Nm... and time allowed is anything between 5 hours and two days.... Happy to push on ... but if very nice, we'll take our time.

Would be happy to meet the North Wales gang in the canal !! Could be very much fun !! :D

You say on shore for the winter, any plans to do work, or just a new general storage option?

Not sure how many North Whalers (and Bernie Tresner) would be involved, but there is still time to work on others :)

Well, crack o dawn Sat looks favourite, like yer say if weather holds.
Looked at all the magic seaweeds me grannies hazelnuts (not pretty in Oct) and all other forecasts and witchcraft.
Reckon you will be ok an in the Pub by 18.00:)

This Caledonian Collection could be good.
'Saxons and Celts meet up' + some Johnny Foreigners:D

Inverness sounds a good base for next year, give you a bit more choice of cruising I would think.

Although ain't been near the place since me honeymoon!
Funny thing is, we were going to Oban
Didn't seem to matter to us those days:D:D

Don't forget Alf's of the Viking bloodline, I heard they used to enjoy a party :)

If you haven't been to Inverness for a decade or two Kwacka, you'll see a difference now.

for a decade or two Kwacka,.

Very kind!
Try a decade or 4!
Hactually, hardly been to Scotland on leisure hactivities!

But Fort William, now there's memories see.
Motorbikes innit.
'Town Hall Brae'
'Pipeline'
Those that know will know;)

Yep, so must do the Caledonian thing/meet somehow.
Be rude not to now, wouldn't it?

Aye, summatt nice to look forward to in 2011:)

....... Where you up there with your rocker mates on Nortons, Triumphs and BSA's ......

Think his nick is a giveaway!! :D

And yes Sat AM looks good... need to get around Rattray Head on high tide about 8 - 9 am for smoothest ride...

Blocked in by yacht at the moment, so re-fuel may be early AM Tursday (friday is not feasible due to work) ... need near high tide to slide past her to avoid damaging props etc.. :( ... then will bring her to a place I can get away anytime ..

MF's not been to Scotland yet, though her predecessors did. Not as though it's a hard job. Just a two day hop. THERE ARE posh marinas, but akso wild anchorages.

Anyway dont know. Hang on it seems your going the wrong way round. Have you lost the plot.

There's nane that's blessed of human kind
But the cheerfull and the gay, man

Here's a bottle and an honest friend!
What wad ye wish for mair, man?
Wha ken's , before his life may end
What his share may be O'care, man?
Then catch the moments as they fly,
And use them as ye ought , man
Believe me, happiness is shy.
And comes not aye when sought, man

Apologise to R Burns!

Yes, it a must do. You will be expected. Someone will have to think of a name for this growing North Wales Mob Armada and the impending invasion of Scotland :)

Journey went as good as could have been...

A bit messy to start with, but rounded Rattray Head and after that we had a nice mere NE 2M swell coming off our rear quarter, which made for cunfusing seas as wind was Westerly... Engines running wll for the six and a half hour with only minor issues, such as instrument EL supply shorting out, one cylinder / injector mis-firing below 1000 RPM etc.

Realised that I forgot camera in car 6NM out, so sorry for no pictures of the conditions, pods of dolphins or seals...

Anyway, now in new marina where dolphins visit and we have a family of otters living in the breakwater next to us...

As things progress, and we visit and cruise the new place, we will post picures, and I am sure I'll get to the bottom of the engine/instrument issues.... somehow...
