Erm .. bit surprised at the lack of manners here!

1) Take them both out for a test sail
2) compare weight

Suspect it wo'nt take too long to make your mind up ... try and get a F5+ test sail in each.

this forum is not a bar, bars have real people in them, believe it or not some can be even ruder than you

Sorry again... I won't have the chance to make this test. It seems to me that bav 38 is better for sailing being lighter and slighter, but I'm not sure about the overall quality, since today bav is not 10 years ago bav. On the other hand Oceanis 393 is a family cruising boat very comfortable inside, with a lot of space a lot of water capacity and an overall superior and lasting quality... Am i wrong ? Any other tip?
Thks & Best Regards

Welcome to the forum!!
People are incredibly sensitive, but should remember this is not the bar of a private club but a very public forum.
If I walked into any bar in the land and shouted "help" I would not expect to be interogated as to my inside leg measurement!

As to your question sorry can't help as I've no experience of either boat,if I had I would have been more than happy to answer.

I can only talk about one half of your question as I own a 393. I have sailed her in most (normal) conditions - 'delivery trip' was from Cherbourg to Poole in and Easterly F5 in Feb. I find the boat very comfortable, quite quick for her type, and easy to sail. She appears to be well built and we have been very pleased with our choice.

please & thank you is not too much to ask of anybody is it, that not rudeness but manners.
sorry if you feel offended racy your obviously as thick skinned as some of us
if marcolanza was to fill-in his bio perhaps a trial sail might just be offered by a forumite in his area.
In Ipswich Foxs do Bennys
& Opal ( i think ) do Bavs

Best for what ? There isn't a best as such, only a best for you. Look closely at both, listen to various opinions bearing in mind that if their proud owners they'll be pleased, try and sail both and decide which one best suits your needs.

If everyone on this site gave responses like yours Sailorman, no-one'd bother coming here.

It was a perfectly reasonable question - and the number of times it's been viewed demonstrates that it sparked lots of interest...

Just bought new Oceanis 39.3 having had 36.1 previously and I know it may not meet the purists criteria but suits my and SWMBO needs ie mostly channel cruising with some local club racing. No real experience of Bavarias so can't comment but last time I looked, I preferred finish of Beneteau.

I guess your point, but "real boats" are probably in different categories then these ones. Obvioulsy It can't be compared a Baltic or Swan with these more commercial series. Furthermore I'm just trying to understand whom's better from overall quality view point. No answers till know...
Thanks for partecipating
