I’m looking to buy an ais transponder and have narrowed it down to the two above.
They both have Wi-fi and do NMEA 0183 multiplexing, which are essential for me.
The main difference I see between the two is that the ATB1, is class B+
The extra power of B+ would be of benefit, but not the faster updates - I don’t sail fast enough for it to kick in.
Does anyone have experience (good or bad) of either of these units? Or have made a choice between these two?

I have an XB8000 but it depends what you mean by multiplexing. I needed both fast NMEA for AIS and slow NMEA for the VHF (can't remember the actual numbers now but everyone knows what I mean) but the XB8000 can only output one or the other so I had to buy a separate muxer.

Otherwise the XB has been very good.

The ATB1 has 2 separate 0183 in/out channels which can individually be configured for either standard or high-speed, which would be an advantage, but not essential.

One thing I can’t do is compare the iPhone apps for each device. They don’t really let you look at them without a device connected. Are they any good?
