I am considering installing underwater LEDs to my Princess 54 Fly. I have been quoted for these;

OCEAN LED SPORT S3166S

Does anyone have any experience of these, I am interested in how long they last, wull they be powerful enough for UK cruising, colour range, apps or remote. Good or bad?

This is a project to 2022 season start so I have time to ensure I get the right solution.

Thanks all.

I had some underwater lights fitted last year. Prior to that I did quite a bit of research on various lights including Ocean LED’s. The more I looked though, I kept coming back to Lumishore. They are expensive but you get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with Ocean LED’s though.

hi
i had ocean LED 's fitted about 6 years ago, they have all but one failed now. i am going lumishore now for the replacements,

Thanks everyone who replied, I will take a look at both Lumishore and Bluefin. Thanks
I had 4 Bluefins fitted in 2017 and by mid/late 2018 all 4 had failed. Replaced all with Lumishore in early 2019 and so far no issues at all……maybe Bluefin have improved since my experience but…….

I had Blue Fins fitted, one failed a week out of warranty...On the next lift out it was sent back to Blue Fin for repair (at full cost to me). We were in the process of selling the boat at the time, but apparently it had failed before the boat even went back into the water. A friend had his fitted last year and they are flickering already. I personally wouldnt have them again.

Avoid Lumishore. Just had some fitted and unless the batteries have a full charge (e.g. within 30 minutes of unplugging shore power or after anchoring up) they flicker and flash on and off, which looks terrible. Really disappointed having spent nearly £3k for 4 lights including fitting

That sounds more like a wiring issue to me. I would be investigating voltage drop at the light and under sized cable. There seem to be a lot of people supporting Lumishore.

Yes either a bad connection somewhere or too much voltage drop in the circuit…..perhaps due to undersized wiring/wiring multiple lights from a single cable.

The lights appear to each have their own cable running back to a hub / controller. It all works fine on shore power but from batteries you have to wind the intensity down significantly otherwise they blink and flicker. I guess my point is more 'as they are dimmable, why don't they just be a little dimmer if the voltage is lower - rather than flashing on and off etc'. I'm sure it's more complex than that but it's annoying for sure.

I only have a simple on/off switch on mine so sounds like your install is more advanced. Have you contacted Lumishore for assistance-when I had a flicker (which was a wiring fault not a product fault) they were very responsive.
But fully agree, bloody annoying when these things don’t work as they should!!!!

We put some bluefin’s on last year. So far, so good!
Was just searching the forum to see if anyone had posted on Bluefin LED issues and found this post. As an update to the 2021 post, they've failed and flickering / dim. Probably best to avoid if anyone is considering.

To be honest, I think all underwater lights fail after a few years. If you're going to install them, be prepared for the cost and hassle of replacing them every few years.

Just as a funny side , I went to a clients house to do some work , the owner asked if I could assist in changing the pool lights. So he drops the level of the pool about 2ft so water line is below light. Leaning over we could not get pressure on the Philips screws , so he strips off naked and gets in to try from the pool, but every time he tries it just pushed him away. So then he asks me to hold his shoulders so he tries again, failed.Right he we have no choice , he says you strip and push me from behind !! My reply GFY I am off.
