Just read this account written by Frank and Margaret Dye of Franks crossings from Scotland to Iceland and Norway.
In particular his account of the voyage to Norway when caught in a force 9 gale. The boat was rolled several times, lost half his kit and smashed the mast.Despite seeing Fishing vessels in the area that could have rescued them, with the help of his crew he did a repair of the mast using whisker poles and things as splints.Got the mast back up and carried on to Norway.
Frank must be an incredibly tough man physically and mentally but doesnt blow his own trumpet at all. In one place he writes that he has had several good crewmen over the years but few have returned for a second voyage! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
