I have recently bought a new VHF radio which has a DSC facility as well as an AIS receiver which should be very useful. It is a Standard Horizon GX2200E. I am hoping to install it next week but have had no success whatever with the Ofcom website in order to be allocated an MMSI number.
Has anybody had success recently or does anyone have a contact e mail address I can use to get help ? Thanks in anticipation of any help.

I had a problem the last time as they'd migrated the accounts so the old password didn't work. I phoned them up and got a prompt answer and resolution. When did you last log in?

You should be allocated a MMSi number when you add the DSC radio to your licence.......... down load the new licence and it should be there.

I even managed to work through the on line procedure without phoning them to get up and running again on the new system........... I forget what was involved but it was straight forward and with hindsight obvious

Thanks both I have been trying for the last couple of days but will persevere , I have not been able to find a phone number yet. When I get to the page to input details of new radio set it just goes blank. Maybe a temporary fault

I went online to them a few months back to update some personal details and noticed that they had issued me with a mmsi # even though I don't have a dsc vhf! It will be handy for when I upgrade to an ais transceiver :)

I have not been given one!

Just a note to help others on this...
If you have not previously registered you need to do this first.
Once into your licence make sure the information is compete - ie emergency contact, max no of persons on board etc
To get an MMSI number generated you will need to change the equipment type from VHS Fixed to VHS DSC
While you are there check the rest of the info is correct.

Here is the latest link - Ofcom have updated their web site a couple of years ago so old bookmarks may not take you there
