I was coming up towards Iffley lock earlier today and there were swimmers in the water and also a boat exiting the lock, who had already closed the gates.
So I took the green to green route and lined up for the lay-by. The boat exiting the lock knew what I was doing so no problem there.
I remember there used to be a marker there but as it is no longer there I assumed there would be adequate depth.
There wasn't. My boat, which is 3ft4 on the skegs rolled quite a bit on whatever it was under the water. It was not a hard strike and no damage but impressive how shallow it was. Probably about 2ft6 and it was in the line you would use to approach the layby from downstream with boats exiting the lock.
