Hello folks,
There's a wooden plaque glued to one side of my helm position with a 6 digit number carved into it of the above format. Is this the part 1 registry number? If so, how do I go about tracing this?
Many thanks

Probably the hull number , works the same way as the VIN on your car

amend that slightly , is it all numbers , or letters too ?

It is as above, "O.N.123456"

I don't think it's the hull number as that is stamped into the transom and different to this and starts HINxxxxx.

If you were in an ex Lifeboat it would be the Operational Number but I can remember which RNLI boats Sealine made /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

HIN is Hull Identification Number and usually has year or model year of manufacture at the end eg ABS- 12345-07

Col,
I thought so too..
Any idea how I go about tracing the roots on this?
I have registered on the SSR but quoting this number to them at the time elicited no response, and they gave me an SSR number no question.

Trev,
Yep, it's a tupperware tea-tray, not wooden, sorry! One day tho....

Apologies for the confusion , I've got wooden boats coming out of the ears at the moment so a little tunnel visioned . I presume you've tried here

Its your part one registered number, with the registered tonnage of the vessel, its not the actual weight so dont be alarmed , its the tonnage in volume set with calculations from either the builder or if registered for a mortgage etc by a surveyor.

Agree with others its your part 1 british reg.

But, if its by the helm its secured in the wrong place.

When first registered you must confirm to Swansea that the registered unique name and registered port are maked on the stern and the tonnage plaque is perm. attached to the main beam or similar. This in small craft is usually the aft E/R bulkhead.

Yes definately your Pt 1 registered number (not SSR) and mine is in the cockpit area too as there is no where else to put it ... the ships registry send this plaque to you when you register your boat and say that it shold be secured so that it cannot be removed - if using screws then they should be filed flat etc ..... as already stated it also shows registered tonnage (volume) ... I can get telephone numbers for you if you like PM me and Ill send you them after I get home ....

I thought they just sent you a "carving note", and not the actual thing to be attached. I had the yard make up mine and then they epoxied it and screwed it to a beam in the boat, then ground down the screws just to be sure.
