Hi all,

I have two B20 engines - I believe they are 2litre engines and need completely rebuilding. They are coming out of a boat and have been completely neglected for around 5years. I would like to keep these engines as they have only done around 70hrs from new and have water cooled jackets (exhaust manifolds) and tie in nicely with the Volvo Legs (Z-Drives) for cooling (270's). The only changes I have considered have been to remove points/distributor etc and replace with electronic ignition is this is straightforward enough - cost not necessarily an issue if it will simply day to day use!) and also considered from a distance fitting fuel injection as long as this isn't a nightmare of a job.... ANY info/suggestions gratefully accepted. Many thanks in advance

Luminition sell an electronic ignition kit, I fitted one to a 110 recently well worth the money.

Don't go for the fuel injection, but fit overall kits in the carbs and you will be fine.

Or fit newer engines?

Thanks for that. Elec. ignition I thought was a sensible idea anyway and FI was a little step too far! Any ideas what a sensible newer engine solution would be. I have various ideas/access to engines but I can forsee problems cooling them. I have access to to 2 Audi 2.6 V6 (150hp) lumps and also 2 x Jeep 4L 6cyl engines but can't work the cooling ideas in my head as well as being a little OTT. Fuel consumption doesnt really bother me as I doubt that it will realistically do more than a couple of jaunts a year.
