I'm refurbishing the mast head on our little Pegasus 700 which is made from some folded aluminium sheet bolted together with stainless bolts. As expected, at this age there is some corrosion around the bolts loosing the anodisation. So after cleaning it all up, priming and painting it I'm wondering if it is worth reassembling using some nylon washers between the nuts/bolt heads or not. I would use duralac as well anyhow.

I use a plastic (HDPE) gasket /insulator between any stainless fittings on my mast and boom for the same reason. I also coat the plastic with Duralac.

standard practise on my aluminium boat for any fastner is ,bolt, stainless washer, nylon washer and duralac on the threads, also a nylon or plastic gasket under a plate if attached direct to aluminium.
2 liter plastic coke bottles can be cut up to make effective gaskets

I've used milk bottles in the past as they are made from PE.

Thanks guys. I’ve also used plastic pop bottles and the like previously. Wasn’t sure about uv and nylon.
