Numbers of boats in European countries

Whilst idly googling for some statistics rolleyes:) I came across this EU report on boat licensing. TBH it's rather dry reading material, but I was surprised with the size of boat fleets in some countries. The very high level of boat ownership in Scandinavia is even more surprising. I had no idea that boating was so popular there. The relevant table is a couple of pages in.

Having been to Denmark and seen how wonderful that bit of the Baltic is, I'm not in the least surprised.

They seem to use "A pleasure craft is defined as any vessel in private ownership used wholly or mainly for sport and recreation purposes" which would include a lot of small boats - but did the report behind the table check consistency of definitions when pulling the national datasets together? Having said that, there are a very large number of lakes and lakeside cabins in Finland, for example - and a high number of boats per head in Switzerland, too, I see. ​
