Stay there. I can't work out why you're even thinking about an alternative back in the UK.
I've done it and almost 2 yrs down the track am still unsettled and pissed-off in general. Now, every step I take is another one towards being back out there.
Erm - certainly not thinking of coming back to do a feckin JOB in the ordinary boring way, golly no. Got a few ideas though, some of which have legs to run.
Tell you though, forced out of the ratrace, bored with it anyway, should have done this years ago, but didnt because of FAMILY, who are +DOG the only reason I am coming back anyway.
Had a FANTASTIC TIME! And one of ideas involves seatravelling paid for by someone else (food + accom, at least).
How about setting up a little business that organises other people like yourself who have wanted to get away for 6 months, a year, or more? Most people lack the final 2% it takes to actually make it happen. You could 'sanitise' the risk for them by offering a service to fulfil their dream. Range of activities and destinations, house sitting, contacts, travel, accommodation. A bit of an extended travel agent for the more adventurous 50+ age group.
I would say welcome back, but I think you may well be off again, as Stingo suggests.
The couple that were running my nice little earner turned it into a nice little loser. So I had no choice. 20 odd months down the track and I am still trying to pick up the pieces.
No, they did an excellent job and then did a runner - right out of the blue.
Am still chasing them for about £4,000 that they owe me. Am getting to the stage where I'll soon be asking if anyone on the forum know of any huge blokes that swing baseball bats if they don't get their way.
