Right, here I am, having sailed from Australia, repowering in Guernsey having blown up my engine.

Well impressed with the guys helping me – Marine & General – but I have a slight problem/opportunity.

What to do with a dead donk?

The engine itself is totally stuffed – a large lump of cast iron with broken con-rods and seized pots. But I have all these peripheries – alternator, fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors, gearbox etc.

Any ideas how or where I can claw a few bucks back selling them?

I'd be surprised if a 45 foot steel ketch only had a 30hp engine ...... but I'm definitely no expert in such things!

Hey / I am not a complete dummy (despite all reports to the contrary), but someone else with spares for that engine might just also have been reading . . . . . . . . . .

G'day peeps, sorry been tied up over the last few days.

Originally didn't want to say what engine it was in case someone flamed me for trying to sell stuff here.

But since you ask - it's a Volvo TMD22P - the turbo charged 78HP thingy. The gear box is a Borg Warner Velvetdrive 2.57 ratio.

Sh!t happens, but we've been in a lot worse places than Guernsey where loosing the engine would have been seriously serious so I'm not complaining. And these Guernsey folk are so nice - they even let me go out racing with them.
