Bloody hell, what a week that was.
Never had flu like that before, headache, sweats, shivers, aches, vomiting and bizzarre dreams which I'd rather not discuss. Most of the symtoms all at once as well.
First time in years I've had a whole week off with a cold, but luckily I had my beloved to tend my every whim, I should cocoa! On the first afternoon she sent me off to bed with a loving"Your ill, go to bed, now f##k off" as about 20 litres erupted from my not inconsiderable nose. I was lucky and she came to see me the next morning, "darling I'm feeling really ill, do you reckon I should see a doctor". "They can't do anything about colds" she sneered back at me and glided out of the room leaving 2 paracetamol and 2 millimetres of water in the bottom of a glass.
Ah, but I'm better now and guess what? Yes she's got it!.
Departs stage left with an insane cackle.

I have just returned from a ski trip in Vermont
I sat next to a cougher on the way out and brought back my first cold for years.
One would think it difficult for flu to survive in sub zero conditions but maybe that is why it worsened on the way back
I felt sorry for my fellow passengers
I have found anti septic lozenges during day and all in one cold treatment helps sleep.

Regards Briani

I had similar a few weeks back, lasted about two weeks. Not wishing to sound like a hero but I had to work through it. The only thing that kept me going was the Scotch at night (medicinal of course) Incidentally I also had weird dreams, its the high temperature that *u**s your head up apparently. Wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy, well maybe e few of them.

You went to work with it! I say old boy, bad form, bad form indeed. You'll have all us ill chaps rumbled with an attitude like that. Did the wife moisten your fevered brow, with her eyes full of tears for her brave soldier and his fine resolve to save her from knowing the hideous pain you were in, no you went and overplayed it and set off for work.
Oh dear, dear me.

In a word NO

she is a fine woman in many respects but sympathy is not in her vocabulary.
I promised myself years ago during a similar illness that I would never again work through such a thing lest I blow myself up or electricute myself due to lack of concentration, but allas when needs must and all that.
I felt like the proverbial poo and kept asking myself what the hell I was doing anywere but in bed.

The current flu virus doing the round is nasty in the extreme. It has has taken me the best part of 3 weeks to get over it. 2 nights into it, SWMBO was wrapping me in wet towels to get my temp down. 104F at one point, almost a hospital job. Delirious too. She said I looked like a ..........well never mind. Went to Doc and he said they had just received an alert on this, and I was the first case of proper flu he had seen in 5 years. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif This was 6 weeks ago now. He also told me to stay at home and have minimal contact with others.

Does sound like the one I had, except you got the loving attentions! I knew I should'nt have ridden in today, trickling down the outside of a row of traffic this morning when postie notices nothing coming the other way, indicates and pulls out in one go, only problem is I'm level with the front of the van, not that this detered him. I ended up on the pavement on the other side of the road minus a pannier.
Sorry did'nt see you.
BUT ITS A POLICE SPEC ST1100, the size of a bus!
Oh deep joy.

Luckily I had a flu jab this year, but instead I have been given a dose of the worse head cold I think I have ever had. My sinuses are blocked solid, I cant hear properly and I have had a headache for 4 days now! I sympathise with you, I had proper flu once and it was like I had been poisoned, my mate came round to see how I was twice I could not remember seeing him even though I had apparently had a chat with him. Just hope this bird flu does not develop any further.
