Now it\'s...

Lieutenant Commander Dame Ellen MacArthur - honorary commission just announced by RN.

What next? At this rate she'll be Admiral Her Grace The Duchess Ellen of B&Q OM PC KCG DSO before she's 30

Thank God we are not in America...in 4 years time she would be the next President...perhaps that is why Cherie and Tone want her onside pdq?

Re: Now it\'s...

Is the rank of Lientenant Commander good? I was told that this was the rank you could aspire to if you were still a nobody. And that would be seriously wrong in this situation.
I am a pacifist, so what do I know? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes. Its as high as you can expect to get by serving your time and keeping your nose clean. As I understand it from my service relatives, Commander and above and Major and above require staff college exams and a bit of nouse

Able Seaman series

Good idea. Then she could have been upgraded with every adventure, each time being slightly different plot although not much really, eventually winding up as admiral atfter a marathon of twenty seven bloody boring tales of er oops, sorry Mr o'brien....

Is it true that the Royal Navy employs more admirals and rear admirals than its total of commissioned warships?

Re: Now it\'s...

yep course it is. Cammden council employs 80,000 people of which 1,000 are teachers. More than 800,000 additional civil service staff have been hired in the last three years. It's all part of the modern and much loved govt with lots of computers and hence three times the real cost of a government er without computers and which if we don't vote back in - the other lot might impose argh draconian cuts, which would be awful.
