UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary Notices
1. (Week 22) - ENGLAND - East Coast - Drying heights. Depths. -
Three new drying heights on the edge of the Yantlet Flats on the Sea Reach, River Thames, between East Blyth of West Nore Sand. Also one reduced depth close to the West Nore Sand but unlikely to hinder leisure craft. The new drying heights are in line twixt the East Blyth and West Nore Sand buoys as the Yantlet Flats extend gently to the north.

2. New Editions of ADMIRALTY Charts to be published on 19th June, 2025 - SN Chart 2572 - England - East Coast, The Swale, Windmill Creek to Queenborough. 1:12,500; A Queenborough. 1:5,000; B Milton Creek. 1:12,500; C Conyer Creek. 1:12,500
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Four revised depths at Great Yarmouth; one just inside the northern haven entrance, a second outside the southern haven mole, one revised depth in the River yare (which is good for us) and finally a slight reduction off the Spending Beach in the River Yare. Unlikely to hinder leisure craft.
4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Light. - Deletion of the light marking the Jetty on the west bank in The Great Ouse, opposite the South Quay in King’s Lynn.
5. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Eight reductions of depth in the Yantlet Channel between Cliffe Fleet and Tanker PHBs. Obviously this is monitoring the channel depths for the larger ships as no leisure craft is likely to be hindered.
6. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Two increases of depth in Bugsby Reach, River Thames, one by Thames Wharf (opposite of the O2 arena), the other on the edge of the channel SW of Greenwich YC and one very slight reduction of depth off the YC. Unlikely to hinder leisure craft.
7. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One reduction of depth in the centre of the Yantlet channel adjacent to Sea Reach No 5 South. Part of monitoring the shipping channel, unlikely to hinder leisure craft.
8. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One slight reduction of depth adjacent to the Lower Hope PHB in Lower Hope Reach, River Thames. Unlikely to hinder leisure craft. The image incudes similar reductions reported in the area vide NtM 1016 earlier this year.
9. BELGIUM - NM Blocks. - New UKHO Block for the Belgium SN chart and the UKHO SCC for part of Oostende (e.g. including to Montgomery Docks).

1. River Thames - Sea Reach - Oikos Jetty No. 1 Dredging Operations - on or about Saturday 31st May 2025, contractors instructed by Oikos Storage Ltd. will commence dredging operations for Oikos No. 1 Jetty. The general location of the works is indicated by the red box on the chartlet. (sse in the Local List: Notices to Mariners. These dredging operations will be carried out by the Water Injection Dredging method and will be conducted during ebb tides only. It is expected that this dredging will be undertaken by vessel MAAS. The area to be dredged comprises the Oikos No. 1 Jetty berth box as well as the rear, clearance channel and the approach / transit area to the berth. The dredging is planned to be completed within 10 days of commencement. Any requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed, will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’. The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under local regulations and the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Further details will be broadcast as needed by London VTS on VHF channels 68 and 69.
2. River Thames - Northfleet Hope - Dredging Operations - On or around 29th May 2025, dredging operations will be undertaken at Tilbury Lock Entrance. Works are expected to take no longer than 5 days. The general location of the works is indicated by the red box on the chartlet. Vessels involved in operations will include “MAAS” and “BORR”, with vessels undertaking Water Injection Dredging on the ebb tide only. Previous warning in (1) applies.
3. River Thames - Gravesend Reach - Denton Wharf - Diving Operations - on Thursday 29th May 2025, diving operations will take place at the Svitzer mooring pontoon at Denton Wharf over the Low Water and High Water slack periods as shown on the chartlet:. When diving is taking place, the following signal flags will be displayed: RY: A: Diver entry Point. Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘Speed Reductions’. Further information will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF 68.
4. River Thames - Barking Reach - Docklands Wharf - Dredging Operations - commencing 23rd May 2025 until 31st May 2025 inclusive, dredging operations will take place at Docklands Wharf.Dredging operations are expected to take place for 1 day within this dredge window. The general location of works is indicated by the red box on the chartlet. These dredging operations will be carried out by vessel MAASor similar, using the water injection dredging method and will be conducted during ebb tides only. Previous warning in (1) applies.
5. River Thames - Upper Pool to Sea Reach - GB Circumnavigation World Record Attempt - on 1st June 2025, a World Record Attempt is taking place between Tower Bridge and the outer limits of the Port. The attempt involves the 2-person rowing vessel ‘HOPE’, which is equipped with VHF and AIS, departing from Tower Bridge at 0615 and heading out to sea. River users are to maintain a sharp lookout and navigate with caution with respect to this vessel, which may appear in waters that Mariners would not normally expect to find it. The vessel ‘HOPE’ will be following the passage plan below which provides a useful guide to other river users:

The vessel will be accompanied by a Safety Launch from Tower Bridge to the Thames Barrier, after which it will proceed out to sea and towards Dover. The crew expect to complete the challenge and return to the Thames in late July. A subsequent Notice to Mariners will follow to inform river users of the inbound passage, once the crew have arrived at Felixstowe.
6. Surveyed Depths – Harwich Harbour – Update 9 - the latest hydrographic surveys showing depths in Harwich Harbour. The controlling depth for deep draught vessels navigating within the harbour area should currently be taken as 15.5m below chart datum, plus height of tide. Significant depths below chart datum (not including inside berth boxes) are:
• 15.5m - spot soundings between the North West Beach Buoy and Grisle Buoy
• 15.1m - spot soundings between the Grisle Buoy and Shotley Spit Buoy
• 14.9m - spot soundings between the Shotley Spit Buoy and Babergh Buoy
