1. New Editions of ADMIRALTY Charts to be published on 24th November, 2022 - Chart 3741 - International Chart Series, England - East Coast, Rivers Colne and Blackwater. 1:25,500: A Brightlingsea. 1:12,500; B Continuation of River Colne.; 1:12,500; C Colchester Quays. 1:12,500; D Bradwell. 1:12,500; E West Mersea. 1:12,500; F Tollesbury. 1:12,500; G Maldon. 1:12,500 (You will recall that I had reported Imray had issued an entirely new Blackwater and Colne Chart (Y17A) which is already incoporating all the latest data.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One reduction of depth on the west side of the Thames Barrier, close to the north bank. Unlikely to hinder leisure craft (the image includes two reductions of depth notified vide NtM 3653 in week 37.
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. Drying heights. - Eleven reductions of depth; one, a drying height, on the south edge of the East Barrow Sands, another drying height on the tail of the SW Barrow Sands, the remainder on the south edge of the Barrow Sands and in and around the Mouse channel.

RIVER THAMES - SEA REACH - LONDON GATEWAY BERTH 4 - DIVING OPERATIONS - On or about the 26th October 2022, diving operations will commence daily at London Gateway berth 4 for approximately 1 weeks. Diving operations will take place from the vessel MCS ANNEKE, which will be moored within the mooring box . Operations will be timed around the low water tidal windows and requests for vessels to proceed with caution or pass at slow speed will be made by London VTS on VHF ch.68, in accordance with the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, section 4. MCS ANNEKE will display International Code Flags. The vessel should display International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ and ‘Alpha (A)’ as appropriate:
2. RIVER THAMES - GRAVESEND REACH - FIREWORKS DISPLAY - contractors instructed by Gravesham Borough Council will stage a firework display in Gravesend Reach on Thursday 03rd November 2022. Fireworks will be launched from Port of London Authority (PLA) vessel LONDON TITAN, which will be moored off Gordon Promenade. The firework display is expected to commence at 1900 and last approx. 20 minutes in duration. A safety zone, as marked in red on the chartlet below, will be established between approximately 1845 and 1930. During this time period, no vessel is to enter the safety zone, except with the express permission of either London VTS or the attending PLA Harbour Service Launch exhibiting flashing blue lights; call sign prefix ‘THAMES PATROL’ Vessels secured on their allocated moorings within the safety zone must remain unoccupied while the safety zone is in force. For the latest information, contact London VTS on VHF channel 68 or telephone 01474 562215.

RIVER THAMES - BUGSBYS REACH - TRINITY BUOY WHARF PIER - PILING OPERATIONS - On or about the 7th November 2022 marine contractors working on behalf of Thames Clippers will be undertaking piling operations at the upriver end of Trinity Buoy Wharf Pier. These works will be conducted from GPS BOXER, which will be berthed in the works area as denoted on the chart extract below. The works will take approximately three-weeks to complete and working hours will be 07:00 to 17:00 daily. The works will be supported by the Tug GPS INDIA, which will maintain a continuous listening watch on VHF channel 14. Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY) displayed. Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14.
4. Harwich Harbour & Approaches- Seasonal Recreational Marks - On or around the 26th of October 2022, the following seasonal recreational marks will be withdrawn: Pennyhole - Yellow Cone Buoy; Cork Ledge Racing Mark - Yellow Can Buoy; E

5. Approaches to Sheerness - Grain Spit – Geotechnical Survey - a nearshore geotechnical survey will be performed by Stewart Marine on Grain Spit in the approximate location shown below. The vessel “Viking Energy” will be conducting piezocone penetration tests (CPTU) and HDD Survey work between 27th October and 2nd November 2022. Due to the restricted manoeuvrability of the vessels and equipment during the survey works passing vessels are requested to maintain an appropriate and safe distance of at least 500 meters around the work vessel. Admiralty Chart No. 3683 refers. Further information may be obtained from Medway VTS on VHF Channel 74, call sign “Medway VTS” or telephone 0151 949 6148.
6. PORT OF GREAT YARMOUTH - Timber sections – Hazard to Navigation - MARINERS ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that some large sections of timber have broken free from the ‘skeleton trestle’ structure close to the river port mouth, and will continue to drift with the tidal flow. The timbers are substantial and pose a significant hazard to smaller craft and those with hulls of non-steel construction. Mariners are advised to exercise additional caution when navigating within the Port of Great Yarmouth, the inland waterways and the seaward areas close to Great Yarmouth; to maintain an enhanced lookout; and to report any sightings of floating hazards to HM Coastguard and ‘YARMOUTH RADIO’ on VHF Ch12.
7. Scientific Survey – River Orwell - a scientific survey will be undertaken on Thursday 3rd November 2022 until Friday 4th November in the River Orwell shooting in position 51°58.9936'N 1°16.5889'E and hauling in position 51°57.9614'N 1°16.7044'E. The survey will be carried out by 18m survey vessel ‘Humber Guardian’, callsign 2ENC3, and will involve use of trawl nets. Mariners are requested to keep well clear of this vessel during the surveying work and particularly when engaged in trawling.
