UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary

1. New Editions of ADMIRALTY Standard National Charts on 9th February, 2023 - Chart 1183 -
International Chart Series, England - East Coast, Thames Estuary. 1:100,000. Includes changes to depths from the latest British Government and Port of London Authority Surveys.

2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths.- Three slight reductions of depth in the primary and secondary Yantlet Channel in Sea Reach of the London River. Unlikely to hinder leisure craft and ‘not where we ought to be’ anyway.

3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One increase and one decrease of depth close to the White Hart SHB off Thurrock Yacht Club, River Thames. Unlikely to hinder leisure craft.

4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Buoy. - The special yellow mark off Whitstable Street has been moved closer to the Street.

5. ENGLAND - East Coast - NM Block. Depths. Obstruction. - There is a new UKHO block covering the west tail of the Swallowtail and the Whitaker Channel of the Crouch around the Sunken Buxey. The new depths are courtesy of a Port of London Authority survey last year. The block is for the full SNC UKHO chart and there are a series of 6 depth changes and a new obstn for the SCC charts (which doesn’t get a new block). In case you want to plot the individual changes I have marked up the changes using the jpg image. If you click on the jpg you can download it. Also, of course, you can download the UKHO block via the button. Note that out of view of the UKHO block there is a new depth close west of the Crouch NCB. Note also the UKHO block incorporates the removal of that yellow special mark just north of the Sunken Buxey and the re-positioning of the Swallowtail W cardinal.

6. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Two revised depths at the entrance of Fisherman’s Gat. With at least 7.7m water unlikely to hinder leisure craft.

1. RIVER THAMES - GRAVESEND REACH - DREDGING OPERATIONS

On or around 16th January 2023 the vessel MCS ANNEKE will commence plough dredging operations at Tilbury 2 CMAT, Gravesend Reach. Dredging will take place on the ebb tide only, with expected completion around 20th January 2023.
The vessel is required to display lights and signals as per the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 68. Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 68.

2. Harwich Haven Channel Deepening Project: Temporary Buoy Moves – Update 3 - The planned buoy moves previously referred to in Notice to Mariners 02-2023 Temporary Buoy Moves - Update 2 and due to take place 11th - 12th January 2023 have been postponed due to high wind speeds. This work has now been rescheduled to take place at the first suitable opportunity from 16th January 2023 onwards, see further details below. A Notice to Mariners will be issued as soon as the work has been completed. A number of navigation buoys will be moved from their temporary positions (approximately 50m outside the channel toe lines) back onto their assigned positions. A Table shows the buoys which are to be relocated to their previously assigned positions can be found in the full Notice in the Local List on: Notices to Mariners. A second Table (B) shows the buoys which are still in their temporary positions, approximately 50 m outside the channel toe lines. The buoys in table B will be moved back to their designated positions once the dredging is completed. A Notice to Mariners will be issued when the buoys are relocated. Notice to Mariners 02-2023: Temporary Buoy Moves – Update 2 is now withdrawn. For detailed information regarding this operation, please contact Harwich VTS (VHF 71) or listen to the daily Channel Deepening VHF broadcasts (VHF 11).

3. Burnham-on-Crouch - River Frontage - Temporary Moorings for Dry-Dock - 4 in number anchors are to be temporarily placed astern of the houseboats at Burnham river-frontage adjacent to Priors Boatyard centred on an approximate position of: 51°37.480N, 000°48.950E. Each anchor will be marked with a reflective floating buoy. Work is scheduled to take place on the 17th and 18th January 2023. The anchors will be used to secure a dry-dock in position in which the vessel Llys Helig is to be placed prior to leaving her current berth. Navigation in the vicinity of the anchors should be avoided and only undertaken if absolutely necessary and with extreme caution.

That's it.

That sounds like good news. A few years later than orginally planned for Llys Helig to finally leave Burnham.

Oh, and I did say last week that I would check and see if that 'dangerous wreck' temporary notice at the Colne Bar buoy was still extant. The notice is still in force. The notice is 3682(T) and can be found in the 'Frinton to Havengore' list on: Notices to Mariners Scroll down to Week 37.

I notice my cumulative list of 2022 Notices isn't working at the moment so I am trying to repair the website.

Hi Concerto,

Thanks for the link. Interesting that they now plan to move her to Rochford. I'm not aware of any facilty there that would be up to rebuilding her. I must say, I thought the project had died when she didn't leave Burnham in 2021, having been righted in summer 2020. Howard Dawber clearly has more sticking power than I gave him credit for.

Peter.
