2. ENGLAND - East Coast - NM Blocks. Drying heights. Depths. - This notice includes blocks for one SNC chart and one SCC chart, and amendments for another SNC and two SCC. These changes implement the result of the CTTE survey in May for the SW Sunk swatchway and the move of the swatch is significant to the northeast - The block illustrated is for SNC 1975 at Notices to Mariners and both blocks and the full notice can be downloaded.

Local

1. Harwich Harbour and Approaches - Dredging Operations – Rotterdam and Vox Amalia -
From around the 19 September 2022, the trailing hopper suction dredgers Vox Amalia and Rotterdam will be dredging in areas F,G and H (as shown on the above quoted page on the Local List). They will be disposing of material at the Inner Gabbard East disposal area. The dredging contractor is the Van Oord / Boskalis Westminster Joint Venture appointed byHarwich Haven Authority to carry out the Harwich Haven Channel Deepening Project. All vessels may be subject to Harwich VTS Traffic Organisation. For detailed information regarding the location of the dredging plant, please contact Harwich VTS (VHF 71) or listen to the daily Channel Deepening VHF broadcasts (VHF 11). Given the increased frequency of vessel movements and dredging operations mariners are reminded of the importance of regulated vessel reporting requirements and necessity to maintain a listening watch on channel VHF 71 and maintaining a good lookout ahead and astern.
2. Harwich Harbour - Dredging Operations – Barney - Mariners are advised that on or about the 13 September 2022 the agitation dredger Barney (IMO no. 9740938) will commence agitation dredging in the harbour, for a period of approximately 4 weeks. Detailed dredger movements can be obtained from Harwich VTS on VHF Channel 71.
3. APPROACHES TO SHEERNESS - GRAIN SPIT – GEOTECHNICAL SURVEY - a nearshore geotechnical survey will be performed by Lankelma on Grain Spit in the approximate location shown below. The multi-cat vessel “Bulldog” will tow the Jack-up barge “Sandpiper C-5” into position on or around 17th September 2022. Sandpiper will then be conducting core sampling work between 17th and 30th September 2022, whilst in position the jack-up platform will be manned and illuminated accordingly. Due to the restricted manoeuvrability of the vessels and equipment during the survey works passing vessels are requested to maintain an appropriate and safe distance of at least 500 meters around the work vessel and Sandpiper C-5 Platform. 4. RIVER MEDWAY – SHEERNESS HARBOUR - GARRISON POINT RADAR REINSTATED
- the RADAR at Garrison Point in the following approximate position has now been replaced and returned to normal working conditions.

5. RIVER MEDWAY – MEDWAY APPROACH CHANNEL - SS RICHARD MONTGOMERY WRECK SURVEY - EGS International Ltd (EGSI) will be undertaking, on behalf of the MCA, a “full survey” of the wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery. EGS will undertake a comprehensive survey of the entire wreck and the seabed within the survey area defined as a polygon bounded by the following coordinates:

The survey work will be carried out in the proximity of the wreck, within the prohibited area and extend to the surrounding seabed and a section of the dredged shipping channel to the south of the wreck location. Survey operations will commence on or around the 26th of September 2022 with expected completion by the 2nd October 2022 (weather dependant) and will be conducted by the vessel EGS Watchful (MMSI 232006596; Call Sign MAQK4)

Please be advised that during survey operations “Watchful” will be restricted in it’s ability to manoeuvre and other vessels are requested to pass with caution and minimise their wash.

During survey operations the vessel will display the appropriate day shapes/signals and lights as required by the IRPCS . Admiralty Chart No. 3683 refers . Further information may be obtained from Medway VTS on VHF Channel 74, call sign “Medway VTS” or telephone 0151 949 6148.
