Day started so full of optimism; beautiful blue sky and warm sun and about 11kts from the North-East. Forecast had become a bit adverse for the purpose talking of 18kts by lunch-time and gusting 20+ but I thought I would give it a go.

Slipped the mooring and on leaving the Quarters it looked like this:

For the video, see http://s217.photobucket.com/user/rgaspar_album/media/P1020761-1.mp4.html twas lovely - for a while

But out to the Bench Head and the wind headed me and picked up to 16 to 18kts and that's just too much of a jollop to get accurate data as this image on the way back demonstrates:

(TG wouldn't have been as bad as that but nevertheless it's not a state for accurate data)

Passed this (who's wash caused TG to stand on her bum and then her nose - not that I am complaining, twas out at sea) but blimey was she rolling from side to side. Must have been really sick making. You can see from this, she is on her way to starboard:

Anyway a good run back goosewinged all the way over the ebb:

Sea doesn't look too bad there, does it. But the wind stayed consistently at 16 to 18 kts so it would have been no good plugging all that way down to the SW Sunk. Sorry chaps, will get there soon.

And so to NTM

Permanent

1. Repeat from Trinity House about the 'disusing' of Orford Lighthouse
2. Repeat of a Medway NtM of the deletion of a Fog Singnal in the Medway
3. A preliminary notice of two new Masts in the Southern North Sea connected with the East Anglian Wind Farm. Amazing where they stick these now.

Temporary

1. London Array is all cable work thsi week in-field.
2. That light that was out on the SS Montgomery now isn't.
3. Vange Creek on the River Thames will be closed off from time to time this summer for repair works - where's Vange Creek I hear you ask - Well it's above Fobbing Creek. Where's Fobbing Creek I hear those of you who still have the will to live ask, It's above Hole Haven!
4. And sediment sampling off Felixstowe berth No 9.

All in all, not very exciting....... (seems I've learnt how to do photographs! Not vids though!
