UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary notices
1. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One very slight reduction of depth right in the centre of the northern entrance of Fisherman’s Gat, south of the No 8 west cardinal buoy. Not likely to hinder leisure craft.
2. BELGIUM - Works. Buoyage. Restricted area. Pile. Light. Automatic Identification System. - A temporary notice announcing a new pile and light right in the centre of the cluster of cardinal buoys marking the works area for the development of the new Princess Elisabeth Island. This is in Belgium waters east of the Twin special buoy marking the east side of the Noord Hinder TSS. Work creating the new island is now in progress.

Sea Reach - Calor Gas Canvey Works - This Notice supersedes and replaces L78-24, which is hereby cancelled. at the time of publishing this Notice, the works at Calor Gas Canvey terminal which were previously notified in PLA Notice to Mariners L78-24, remain in progress. These works include use of scaffolding, operatives working on the waterline and lifting operations. A safety boat will attend at times during the works. These works are expected to be complete by 31st October 2025 and the general location of the works is shown by the red markings in the chartlet (see at the Local list at: Notices to Mariners). Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’, displayed. The display of these signals by a vessel will be in addition to any lights, shapes or signals required in accordance with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (IRPCS) and local regulations. Further details will be broadcast as needed by London VTS on VHF channels 68 & 69.

Sea Reach - Holehaven Creek - Gas Pipeline Works - on or about Monday 5th May 2025, contractors instructed by the operators of the underwater gas pipeline in Holehaven Creek will commence works on the pipeline. These works are expected to be complete within 3 weeks of commencement. The general location of the works is indicated by the red markings on the chartlet. Persons working on the waterline and riverbed; and lifting operations. Workboat EMILIA D will support these works, and is expected to remain anchored fore & aft in position for the duration of the works; a similar workboat may be substituted for EMILIA D if necessary. Small craft are also expected to operate in this area in connection with these works. Requirements for vessels to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘Speed Reductions’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’, which are illustrated below, displayed. Signals specified in Thames Byelaw 33 are expected to be displayed in relation to diving operations.

Gallions Reach - King George V Lock - Diving Operations - on or about Monday, 12th May 2025, contractors for the Royal Docks will commence repair works on the outer lock gate of the King George V Lock. These works are expected to last approximately 4 weeks. To facilitate these works, the outer lock gate will remain open, and regular diving operations will take place. The Lock will remain operational throughout the works, but lock-in/out times will be restricted. Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’sPort Information Guide, under ‘Speed Reductions.’ The operations should display International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ and ‘Alpha (A)’ as appropriate: Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14.
4. Surveyed Depths – Harwich Harbour – Update 8 - the latest hydrographic surveys showing depths in Harwich Harbour. The controlling depth for deep draught vessels navigating within the harbour area should currently be taken as 15.4m below chart datum, plus height of tide. Significant depths below chart datum (not including inside berth boxes) are:
• 15.4m - spot soundings between the North West Beach Buoy and Grisle Buoy
• 15.4m - spot soundings between the Grisle Buoy and Shotley Spit Buoy
• 15.2m – spot sounding between the Shotley Spit Buoy and Babergh Buoy

5. PORT OF GREAT YARMOUTH - O&M Piling Works Berth 1. - May 2025 - as part of the construction works on O&M Base, Berth 1, river port, piling works and construction of associated pontoon is expected to commence 19th May 2025. The Proposed Scheme comprises highways and maritime infrastructure for an Offshore Windfarm Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Facility which includes upgrades to the existing Berth 1 A and B quay wall, using a new sheet pile wall located approximately 1m in front of the existing wall to provide a Service Operation Vessels (SOV) berth, installation of a
new pontoon and associated restraint piles and access linkspan to form a Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) berth. The Proposed Scheme is located in close proximity to the river port entrance, just north of the Brush Bend. All Mariners and Port Users are advised to be vigilant and keep well clear of the vessels and
works. Vessels entering or leaving the port, will have right of way and be controlled by LPS. Barge and tug will display lights and shapes for the activities as prescribed in the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, and will maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch12. Mariners are reminded to maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12 at all times whilst within the Port of Great Yarmouth and to advise ‘Yarmouth Radio’ of their intention to conduct any manoeuvre within the Port prior to doing so. 6. London Array Offshore Wind Farm Jack Up Operations (Ziton Wind) - the Jack-up Vessel Wind provided by Ziton, will be on site carrying out main component exchange works. The vessel will be on site approximately on the 24/05/2025 for a 4 week period. Jack-up Vessel: Wind Jack-Up Vessel Ziton Wind has a length of 55m, breadth of 18m with a draft of 4.8m. Equipment will be periodically deployed and suspended from the vessel crane during jack up operations. A 500m radius restricted zone will be in place, centred on the Wind whilst pinned on location. If access is required to this zone for non-project vessel traffic, authorisation must be requested from the vessel master.
