1. New Editions of ADMIRALTY Small Craft Charts to be published on 25th May, 2023 -
SCC 5606.2 Southern Thames Estuary 1:100,000 and SCC 5607.2 Foulness Point to Landguard Point. 1:100,000 - Includes full updates for New Edition and Notices to Mariners affecting source charts.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One reduction of depth in Waveney Dock of Lowestoft Harbour (not where we ought to be!)
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Ten reductions of depth in the South Edinburgh Channel. Still feasible but of course not ‘buoyed’.
4. ENGLAND - South Coast - Light. Breakwater. - A new breakwater with light just outside the entrance to the all-tidal marina in Dover Harbour. Last week there were 6 new depths at the entrance (vide NtM 1615) so the image also includes those depths.

Local:
1. RIVER THAMES - SEA REACH - OIKOS NO. 1 DREDGING -
on or about 09th May 2023, contractors instructed by the operators of Oikos Storage Ltd. will commence dredging operations in the vicinity of Oikos No. 1 Jetty, including the berth box, clearance channel and berth approach area. The chartlet shows (in the Local list on the above quoted web page) the approximate area where dredging will be carried out. Dredging will be undertaken by dredger AQUADELTA on ebb tides only and is expected to be complete by 16th May 2023. Requirements for vessels to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’, which are illustrated below, displayed. The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Further information will be broadcast as required by London VTS on VHF channel 68.
2. RIVER THAMES - SEA REACH LONDON GATEWAY DREDGING - on or about 06th May 2023, contractors instructed by London Gateway Port will commence dredging operations in the vicinity of Berths No. 1 and 2. Dredging will be carried out by dredger MAAS during ebb tides only. The approximate dredge area is indicated by the red boundaries on the chartlet. Dredging is expected to be completed by 13th May 2023. Requirements for vessels to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedures set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’ with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’, which are illustrated below, displayed. The display of these signals will be in addition to any lights or shapes required under the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. 3. Harwich Haven Channel Deepening Project: Temporary buoy moves – Update 10 - On or around 03/05/2023 a number of Harbour buoys will be moved to temporary positions approximately 50m outside the channel limits to allow for dredging operations. This is a regular update, look at the above quoted webpage and select the Local List for full details.
4. Ipswich Lock - Restricted Lock High Voltage Outage -
from 1800 on Sunday 14th May to 0600 on Monday 15th May there will be heavy restrictions on locking in/out. There is a planned power outage which will affect all areas of Ipswich Port. This temporary essential work will enable the maintenance of the ports High Voltage network. In emergencies the Lock gates can be operated. For more information contact Orwell Navigation Services on VHF Ch 68.
5. Ipswich Lock - IPSWICH TIDAL BARRIER TESTS - the dates and times listed Environment Agency will be conducting routine tests and maintenance to the Ipswich Tidal Barrier. During this period the river will be closed off between the Tidal Barrier and Stoke Bridge. Upon completion of the barrier closure, the barrier will be re-opened gradually. Vessels approaching Ipswich Lock may experience additional currents as they make their approach. Caution needs to be taken by small vessels navigating in the vicinity of the lock/barrier at the time of opening. Vessel bound to the area upstream of the Tidal Barrier should at all times observe the Red/Green traffic lights at the Barrier. For more information contact Orwell Navigation Services on VHF Ch 68. There are 2 tests each month (starting tomorrow at 13:30 to 15:30 BST) with the exception of November which has 3 and one in December. See all the dates in the Local List.
6. Ramsgate Harbour - Unlit Light -

7. London Array windfarm - Jack Up Operations (Ziton Wind) - the Jack-up Vessel “Ziton Wind” provided by Ziton, will be on site approximately from 16/05/2023 to carry generators exchanges at F12 and G18 for up to 10 days (weather dependant). Ziton Wind Jack-Up Vessel has a length of 55m, breadth of 18m with a draft of 4.8m. Equipment will be periodically deployed and suspended from the vessel crane during jack up operations. (The two turbines specified are 'in field' away from Foulger's Gat).
8 London Array windfarm - Oil Exchange project - the MMS Superior will be on site approximately from the 18/05/2023 for the summer period. They will be carrying out oil exchanges to 90 wind turbine generators at various locations within the London Array windfarm. Whilst the MMS Superior is in operations within the windfarm a 500m exclusion zone will be placed around the vessel. (The turbines affected are not specified. I suggest you call up a workboat before entgering Foulger's Gat. There should be space in Foulger's to occupy a 500m exclusion zone).
