1. ENGLAND - East Coast - Lowestoft - NM Block. Light. - change of light characteristics of the Kirkley shore light (south of Lowestoft) - there is a UKHO chart block that can be downloaded in addition to my image see: http://www.crossingthethamesestuary.com/page9.html
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Sizewell Bank - Buoyage. Lights. - change of lights and their characteristics;
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Orford Ness NE - Depths. - two reduced depths on the Aldeburgh Ridge - worth noting for those who pass;
4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Sizewell Bank to Aldeburgh Ridge - Wrecks. Depths. - six new wrecks but all of them at 8.9m or more.
Temporary
1. Trinity House has notifed to moves to the Barrow No 8 and No 10. Both moves are very minimal;
2. Orwell Bridge Inspection works - 15th May to mid-May. Day and Night with a Safety Boat at all times;
3. Event at Pin Mill on 13th May involving the Nancy Blackett and 'other small vessels' between 1200 to 1700.
That is it of the officials.
As regards the SW Sunk swatchway a local Tollesbury yacht used last year's coordinates and using a rule of thumb CD reckoning found not less than 12ft at Chart Datum. They paid excellent attention to their data. Obviously I will do a wider survey in mid May (with luck).
As regards the Mersea Quarters, the local buoyage was laid for the season. The layout and light characteristics have changed (consequent upon a recent survey!). We notified the UKHO today of the positioning and changes (not that they would have been work today) but I will post a chartlet in the morning on the Download page: http://www.crossingthethamesestuary.com/page29.html
Please note that this evening I have not deleted the old chartlet. It will look obvious once posted.
You will note (once it comes) that there is a recommended route for deep deep yachts. This will be relevant for those who draw 2m who will need to pay attention at LWS.
As regards the service of YC1, the West Mersea Launch, there will have an extended service in the evenings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It would be better if I have remembered when it is starting and the times but on account of an enormously pleasant lunch-time in the Club House I dare not rely on my memory. It was something like starting at the end of this month to 11pm on Friday and Saturday and 9pm on Sunday. I will update in the morning.
Edit - Whoops - it's in the club book! 30th April to 30th September
Mon-Thurs 0830 to 1230: 1400 to 1730
Fri & Sat 0830 to 2300
Sunday 0830 to 2100
Public Holidays 0830 to 1830
Visiting yachtsmen charged per trip, redeemable against Bar purchases
