'Dear Colleague,
MOD Shoeburyness - Night Firing: 19-30 September 2016
From Monday 19 to Friday 30 September 2016, QinetiQ will be carrying out activities at the Shoeburyness Range on behalf of the MOD, which will be after dusk and which may be visible in the vicinity of the Thames Estuary.
The activity will be conducted between approximately 19:00-21:30, when conditions are favourable, and will involve the use of airborne munitions which are designed to illuminate. Members of the public may report repeated observation of small glowing objects which may be mistaken for maritime distress signals/flares.
All activity on the site is conducted in a strictly controlled environment and presents no danger to the public. This work is subject to suitable acoustic forecasts and tide times, which are governed by weather conditions on the day. Consequently, the date of the activity may be subject to change. If members of the public have any concerns about Range activity, they can call the freephone Careline on 0800 0560108.
For further information can be found on our website. You can also follow us on Twitter @SHB_Alerts
I would appreciate it if you could share this information with any colleagues who may find it of interest or supply me with further contact details.
Regards, Nicki
