Hi All

I arrived in Ostend last night, and on inspection of the boat this morning I discovered this sticking out of the furler. It's a Furlex 200s

I can't see this part in the assembly manual, and so I'm wondering what it is. Does anyone have any ideas? Obviously I'm concerned about putting to see tonight until I know what it is.

There appears to be a socket for it to go into ( see 2nd photo )

Hoping someone knows the answer!

David

Thanks for replying so quickly.

I did an image search on Google and found the same question from someone else. I've never used it, didn't even know it was there hence my concern.

Everyday is a schoolday.
Never seen one wrapped around the furler drum before, they're usually on the section of foil just above it !

I've had a closer look, and it wraps inside the lip where it was sticking out from, and goes into the opening in the second picture where there is a socket for it to clip into.

The manual I have says attach with a rope, but this is firmly attached inside the furler

The furlex one is specifically designed to add inconceivable amounts of friction to hoisting the Genoa. The balls/jaws the sail run through are of such small diameter - it really is a poor design.

We bypass it on ours these days.

We had a Gucci sail feeder on an old boat with a tuffluff system that obviously spoiled us!

Don't have one on my 300S, I guess It's not really needed at all as headsail changes are few and far between,
