Assisted to bring back a boat, usual what have we bought inspection in lockers/bilges after shut down.
Forward bilges checked pre departure and dry but now with noticeable amounts of salt water on arrival.
A technical analysis (after checking poo tank is not leaking) indicates salt water.
All hull fittings thoughout checked for leaks valves both open and shut plus engine raw water system inc exhausts , checked both running and off.
No trace of water getting in anywhere.
Front bilge pump found to be U/S due to melted wiring, new float switch solved the problem, all accessible bilges pumped dry and left overnight.
Bilges dry as bone in morning. Much head scratching, serious worries about bow thruster tubes and worse.

Recall a few years ago a Princess 360 that always mysteriously took on water while under way but never while at rest.
After several months of frustration ,eventually, with somebody else at the helm skipper sticks his head into the lazerette to discover water pissing through the Eber exhaust hull fitting and exhaust pipe itself.
At rest all above waterline but as soon as the boat went on the plane fitting submerged .
Grate design Princess. but an easy fix.

H,mm, nothing getting in while moored ? only when underway when the stern goes down .
The genny exhaust on this Sealine F44 exits at the transom hidden under the swim platform.
Inspection reveals water all around the hull fitting, surely problem solved, a case of tightening securing nut of hull fitting inside boat until proper fix later.

No chance. Whatever physically secures that hull fitting is tightened outside the boat....
So its got to come out. Please Please tell me its not self tappers. 🙏

We discovered our Viki 34 takes in salt water (under some pressure...) through the sink drain in the aft cabin en suite - Again, above the waterline at rest and displacement speed but right in the flow of water when planing. Easily addressed by adding a seacock but only after wondering why the headlining was getting so wet ☔😂

The bit thats irritating is that on a boat costing around £200K when new (AI :ROFLMAO: suggesting it would cost twice that now ) would use such penny pinching fittings. ?
