Whether to say 'That's it for the year'. Four boats, lifted, placed on lorry, down to boatyard, lifted off and chocked; each in turn 3 hours exactly. Blessed by perfect weather - well a little chilly at 8am but still and dry.

Boat 1 - 8.42am

Boat 2 - 9.35am

or: 'I found out why the log doesn't work!' :D

There's a paddle wheel/transducer under there! I need not have bothered to clean the paddle wheel. Amazingly it was registering about half speed.

We have less than a quarter of a mile to go by lorry into the yard (we are too heavy for the yard's derrick). Short trailer is necessary because of the tight corner by the pub at Heybridge Basin now they have patio'ed the lock side

Sorry about the dirty bum - going to look at my exhaust elbow this winter. And if any one can think of a cure for the rust weep, please say so. It defies remedy.

Wow - I can't believe those were taken today - swatchways came out for the winter today in a thoroughly nasty combination of wind and rain - am still thawing out!!!

The beginning of my season.

Never mind each - to compensate, Masquerade has just gone back in the water after two month's annual maintenance.
Antifouled, re-varnished, decks re-painted, rigging checked and coal bunkers full to the brim.
Smug :)

How long had boats 2 & 3 been in the water and what antifouling had they used? They look quite clean!

I have scrubbed Karouise a couple of times in the last couple of months from the pontoon, perhaps I should dry out and do it. Also must have stuff on the prop as I can't make over 4 kts - flat out is usually near 5.

I think boats 2 and 3 have been in for two years. Boat 2 had a very even coat of small barnacles, boat 3 I think was mainly slime. But they sit in the mud for most of the day. I'm not sure what they use. The yard hauled a boat yesterday which has a very clean bottom and that used Flag. I use Seajet Shogun which I think is much better that Hempel/Blakes. That fouling washed off incredibily easily but was pretty dire. I ahve a couple of scrubs a season from the diver over here and I think that knocks the stuffing out of the AF for the last third of the season. Prop was clean apart from a very thin coat of slime. I should say that the transducer is painted in Blakes water based AF which is years old. I have to use the water based stuff on that and even though its in a sealed glass jar its clearly too old - Um yes I think that's 18 years old.
