Out today on my first sail with no major incidents :D ( well if you don't count a narrow miss of fellow club members moored boat when I slipped on a bit of mud in cockpit , got too close to harbour wall and had to use outboard to escape ,roller jib rope got tangled up , ).
But what a great morning I had .

Nice one. Glad your mishaps were little ones :-) Roller jib lines sometimes need a bit of tension kept on them to prevent tangles. Any pictures?

Well I am still alive and sailing ( more luck than judgement me-thinks ) .
I am still having trouble with set up of sails/rigging but a club member is giving me a hand on Saturday morning so hopefully it will be much better for the evening tide or Sunday.

Thanks to Norman for the advice and assistance with my sails , now a lot better.
Went out Saturday evening really great sail ( went that fast I checked my outboard to make sure it was turned off ;):D ).
This was my first trip out to mid channel and with the nice bit of wind that was about I did it a few times zooming in and out of the bay .
:oMishaps :-
dropped my roller reefing handle in the drink:o ( whose idea was it to have a loose handle anyway !!). I will now either have to make a new one or re-think the way to operate the system ( best option I think ).

People who've never dropped anything into the sea off a boat fall into 2 categories.

1. Liars.
2. People who've never been on boats.

We ripped a batten pocket on the mainsail and tore the UV strip on the genoa in a blow last monday. When Louise sewed them up today, I dropped the twist shackle holding the genoa halyard over the side.

I'm fairly confident that the reason why moorings are so shallow is the accrual, over time, of stuff wot people have dropped off boats.

:D
