Last Sunday was UTMYC's annual Sail Past.
Held at the end of the boating season to say "thank you" to the outgoing Commodore and Partner.
Some would say "too much bull" but if you are on the receiving end of 30+ boats in line astern, all looking beautifully turned out (and yes, Mike, with fenders up!!), you may think otherwise.
Richard and Judy have done us proud this year, despite difficult family issues, with club cruises going up to Lechlade and down to Docklands for the ATYC weekend and all the other activities during the year.
There are only 3 formal events during the year.
Summer Ball (often fancy dress and this year masked).
End of season dinner dance (DJ's)
Sail Past (whites and blazers, for the gents)
All the other events are informal and despite some allegations, you can cruise with fenders up or down!
I may be a boring old fart but I have no problem with some of these nicer albeit rather old fashioned traditions.

If I can master the technology there should be some photos attached. Note that the Commodore has no yachting cap and both he and his wife are laughing, so not that serious and quite rightly so.
Note that the boat disappearing into the mist is "Pheran" of this forum. Always in a bit of a mist!!

We were on our way back from Goring in the mist and heard much of your radio activity, always enteratining to listen to at any club's sail past - even if you are taking part yourself!
