Since there are few challenging (South) East Coast whereisits left, how about a when was it?

Its an early September day and if you could see the pushpit there is a Decca aerial there. Other clues you can't see: Fisherman's Gat was unbuoyed and the SW Sunk Beacon still had its top on and a piece of Iroko 60" x 20" x 1.25" cost me £31.00.

1993 - the annual rally for white boats with blue dodgers. Unfortunately the rally was less than a howling success that year when only two boats managed to find their way through early autumn mists to Ramsgate harbour, and the second thought he was in Dover, professing not to know anything of this auspicious occasion. Subsequent rallies have been cancelled.

Pretty damn close but slightly over. Don't you just love those days when getting room wasn't a problem. Not that long ago either.

Actually as I recall the showers were in the old shed and were so small that you had to dry the cubicle first before you dried yourself!

Just found my log for that journey - wind was NE 1 or 2 having been zero most of the day and the harbour dues..... £11.00 ... which was extortionate then. Next night au Calais 44 francs (I think it was francs then, have a memory that it cost me £4.50 a night and the thrid night was free because we were 'jolie'). Brightlinsea was £5 - no pontoons then just piles.
