A full week so far, starting in Ijmuiden, Amsterdam, Gouda, Dordrecht and now Willemstad and we've seen a grand total of ONE other British boat.
In fact we've seen few foreign boats at all apart from Belgians.

Currently in Willemstad and there are 28 boats in the inner harbour and they are all Dutch except for us.

90% of all the yachts we've seen out sailing on the south coast have been Dutch or Belgian. We are one of the few Brits out sailing!

Here in the wet country, red ensigns probably just exceed the foreign flags, which are mostly French, Dutch and Belgian. A few German and one Swede so far. Of course, there's always the odd comedian flying a Devon or Cornwall flag, but I've yet to see a Brittany flag this side of the channel.

Peter.

Same here.
Currently in Sneek via Vlissingen, Dordrecht, Haarlem etc.
Apart from an arranged meeting with friends in Medemblick, we've only seen one other Brit. The same one from Hollowshore several times.
We have overheard several surprised comments "oh look, an Engels"

We travelled from Willemstad to Ouddorp yesterday in the rain.
Saw a fleeting glimpse of a British rival 36 or similar heading the other way.

Strangest thing was the lock at bruinesse which was empty.
Never seen it that quiet, nothing came out and only us and a German hr went in.
I know the weather was pretty grim but I've never seen less boats through that lock before.

Facebook did its usual photo from the same day last year thing and it was us going through the same lock and it stuffed to the eyeballs.

By the way if ever you need a job done or a bit for your yanmar, pop into the yachtwerks at numansdorp, right opposite Willemstad, they run a well organised full service yard. My water seal on the raw water pump was seeping and they fitted a new one in 30minutes, cost a total of 25euro.

Just got into St Hellier after a month or so in Brittany... loads of red ensigns on the N Brittany coast, so no shortage of Brits abroad. We noticed, on our way down here, a lack of Brit boats in Normandy and the Cotentin. Perhaps the red diesel uncertainty has benefited the French?

Some years ago I had a fuel hose split coming out of Gouda. Managed a poor bodge repair and limped to Numansdorp as recomended.
The workshop was closed for holidays but the manager persuaded an engineer to return and make me a new hose. Top outfit!

Southwold was so stuffed with Dutchies today I thought there'd be nowhere to turn in the river. With the appalling weather they're keeping the Harbour Inn full. They're always nice people I find as well.

Counted the Brit boats in St Cast on Saturday there were 3 red ensigns and one Jersey ensign.

Just seen another red ensign on the Versemeer but it was on a Swansea registered yacht. Does that count as British?
I make that 6 Brits in 8 weeks.

I don't believe javelin. We returned from Leeuwarden via Amsterdam, Haarlem, Gouda, Dordrecht and Willemstad at much the same time and he wasn't there.
