An absolutely beautiful night off Nogway though, almost a shame to be going home tomorrow.

Shirtsleeves on deck and the starriest night I remember for an age....

Standard Meteorological Data
WDIR Wind direction (the direction the wind is coming from in degrees clockwise from true N) during the same period used for WSPD. See Wind Averaging Methods
WSPD Wind speed (m/s) averaged over an eight-minute period for buoys and a two-minute period for land stations. Reported Hourly. See Wind Averaging Methods.

GST Peak 5 or 8 second gust speed (m/s) measured during the eight-minute or two-minute period. The 5 or 8 second period can be determined by payload, See the Sensor Reporting, Sampling, and Accuracy section.

WVHT Significant wave height (meters) is calculated as the average of the highest one-third of all of the wave heights during the 20-minute sampling period. See the Wave Measurements section. Note: Buoy WVHTs are combined seas whereas Ship WVHTs are observed wind wave heights.

DPD Dominant wave period (seconds) is the period with the maximum wave energy. See the Wave Measurements section.
APD Average wave period (seconds) of all waves during the 20-minute period. See the Wave Measurements section.

Re: Nogway?

On Sunday morning after filling up with fuel we decided it was to nice to go back onto our berth straight away, so we went for a motor in Chichester Harbour, it realy was a glourious morning. We picked up a bouy to have coffee, coffee became lunch. It was whilst sitting in the cockpit drinking our coffe that the first ripples apeared on the water, until then the water was like a mill pond. The wind gradually grew in strength to 14 knts by the time we were back in the marina. You know the rest!

Re: Nogway?

Absolutely perfect dinghy sailing conditions on Saturday and Sunday mornings off Hill Head. I was in the safety boat on Saturday but dangling off a trapeze wire and doing the odd spot of swimming on Sunday.

Hope that was in a wet suit Dave, it was a bit nippy for Speedos!

Surprising number of visiting boats (5) to Treguier last evening. Had enough of the wind, so dived in for rest. One wonders where they are coming and going from? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Th very same, but Noggin's gone downhill and now sells the Big Issue outside a Lutefisk Cafe.

We were on the mooring Sunday / Monday night, yee hah that was fun!

Watched my wind gen pole bend over to 60° in the gusts. Made SWMBO wear a life jacket and harness when going outside (on the mooring!).

Big tide, BIG gusts, wind gen making on lights, TV, DVD, Fridge and full power Eber.

We are on a raft mooring and although the actual movement is slow, we are rafted against a mono and his rolling kept pushing fenders up the gap so regular checking was necessary. I watched the worst gusts race across the harbour and punch the cockpit tent with enormous force. Was not scared for the boat but worried we might suffer damage. The wind was trying to shake the boat to bits it seemed.
