Maybe a long shot to ask this on here but who knows...

We are in Denmark, Limfjorden on the lovely island Livö at the moment, very nice. We have a few stops left before we get to the Northsea but I am considering the different passage options back to Sweden and Gothenburg.
One option is to do Hirsthals-Norway (sorlandet) which is only around 70nm, besides the complete nature switch from low country, sandy beaches to high mountains and rocky fjords I am keen to try an open sea passage with up to 500 meters of water below the keel, I expect the waves to be very long and soft if the weather is right.

Anyway, now to my question. I have heard that there has been a recent (maybe last year) oil accident and that the shores are still covered in thick oil!

Anyone know if this is the situation or not?

Thanks/
Michael

No problem at all over there, no reported oil spills which affects the coastline... Straight over from Hirtsals to Kristiansand give access to a nice, but busy at this time of the year, coastline. Pending which direction you wish to travel, there will be Lillesand, Grimstad and Arendal towards Oslo ... and do take the opportunities selecting quiet anchorages in less than 1ft tidal differences.. Westwards you have the coastline towards Mandal and if you really want to brave the "wee jaunt" round Lindesnes & Lista, you will have Farsund with the beginning of ajourney that takes you to the South West Norway where the 1000's of islands and fjords around Stavanger and Bergen becons ..... years of cruising just in those basins....

Have a nice journey !!
