I've recently aquired a Northney 34 and slowly I am building a picture of the background of the boat. I now know that 21 were built and the moulds were destroyed in a fire in 1970, which possibly makes mine the last one, She's a Kim Holman design and the GRP version of the last boat he build for himself, Shaker. Which I believe is still on the east coast.
Can anybody add to the story and I'd love to track down the other boats and form an association, albeit a small one. I've spotted Dervish in Fowey, Ballerina of Missen is based out of Weymouth and soon Mar Azul will be berthed in Dartmouth. She is currently ashore in Teignmouth awaiting a refit

Yes it is. It was surreal passing her on the M5. We had serious fun and games firstly getting her into the yard over the narrow bridge and I couldn't watch as they dragged her backwards on the low loader so their hoist could eventually reach and lift her clear. Not quite the professional set up like yous. Thanks again for all your help

Didn't the Island Cruising Club run two out of Salcombe in the Sixties, their 'small' boats alongside Hoshi and Provident?
Sorry, can't get through my mental cobwebs!

No, she's not a Centurion 32 which have a "retrousse" transom. I think there is a very nice Northney 34 moored just upstream of Pinn Mill. Have sent you a PM /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Thank you AWOL. 4 down only 17 to go! How did you come to have this shot? Do you know the owner? or is it You!

I just took the photo. She hails from Fort William and I have to give her time under the CYCA system, which, when it's blowing, is a travesty. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Lovely photo - she is a very fine and pretty vessel indeed!

She is certainly up there competing with the Centurions, Contessas and S & S designs (the legendary 34, and the Shes) for the most beautiful yacht of her type and size.

That's the beauty of these deep long keeled boats, but I'm sure you give as good as you get in light to medium airs! Do you know where in Fort William she is moored? I may be able to track down the owner through the harbour master/marina

i Kno this is not a 32 "BUT" looks similar to the 32, above the water line ( except the transom, of course).

A 'PM' is a private Message. have a look at the top of the page - next to the welcome message you should see a flashing red/white iicon that looks like an envelope. Open that and you will find your PM waiting to be read.

Oh yes. Pin Mill is on the Orwell in Suffolk.
