Can anyone recommend a good set of sailing directions for the Northern Irish coast? Antrim round to Strangford Lough especially. Any suggestions for good places to visit would also be of help. Going end of May, starting from Troon. Only got a week sadly.

Ta much.

Best by far is the East & North Coasts of Ireland Sailing Directions compiled by the Irish Cruising Club. (ISBN no. 0 9501717 8 6)

Places/marinas to visit Bangor, Carrickfergus, Portaferry & several places within Strangford Lough (see Sailing Directions), Ardglass.

Would recommend a visit to Glenarm, a nice small marina only newly opened in the past 2 years about 11 miles north of Larne. From here head south to Bangor a very clean and well run marina with good rail link to Belfast. Then on south to Strangford. A good start from Troon to Campbletown, then on to Glenarm. Watch the tides in the North channel, at most times can be pretty bumpy, if you need more info look me up on F14 at Troon.

Look me up on D12 - I think I have a cruising guide for Ireland onboard (well, it is not at home so must be on the boat)
