Can someone please reveal the successful way to bend the individual strands over the cone. I have 8 terminals to fit, 6 and 8mm, and tried the first one (6mm) last night. The first bit was ok, open the centre, slide on the cone, but my efforts to bend over the wires led to half being more or less over the centre, while the others clung to the outside...
What method, what tools, any suggestions will receive my Pascal gratitude.

It's easy when you know how - use a small screwdriver to hold the cone in place, then twist the outer case in the same direction as the lay of the wire, and pull it steadily towards and over the cone. Hey presto, as if by magic the strands form themselves around the cone!
It's very important that the strands of the cable aren't crossed over each other before doing this. No force should be needed! Nothing needs bending here, you are just working with the natural spring of the wire, the only bending that occurs is the next stage, when you screw in the second part of the terminal - this will form the wires around the cone.

Having done my first (8mm) one yesterday, and about to try the second, my experience was as greenalien described. The wires just sort of fall into place once the twist is right. I also used some light 'cutting' oil inside the terminal whilst tightening to help obviate the possiblity of the thread locking - there is a word for that which I forget at the mo, something stainless is susceptible to.

btw, is it normal to fill the terminal with Sikaflex? I'm shortening a couple of checkstays and the old fittings were finished that way.

Here's a few pics:

Open the strands up...

Close them over the cone (sorry, no pics of doing this as it needs 2 hands, 1 to twist the outer housing back, one to hold the cone with a screwdriver)

Assemble the fitting and tighten up to form the wires around the cone - ignore the creaking noises, they are normal! Then take it all apart...

A good coating of polyurethane sealant
