In Honfleur there were only a handful of UK boats and NO other nationalities. Similarly in Ouistreham except for a couple of French and Dutch boats. Deauville marina is deserted - never seen it so empty.

Is it the recession, the weather or are we too early in the season this year?

Coming South we found the same.
France had very few British boats around, same with Northern Spain. The further south you go the more you run into up to the point where you think the only people sailing in the world are Brits, Dutch and Germans.

I think the thread should be entitled... Sailing... where is everybody.
This year we have seen so few boats out sailing. Even anchored up we have been almost the only yachts there and in some places we were.
Even on beautiful sailing days we have seen very few boats out.

Arrived Fecamp yesterday and there are very few visitors here either. It's also a bit rolly with the F6 SW and the pontoons are long enough.

A French guy who followed us from Deauville commented that there are very few French boats out these days. It's getting too expensive and folks are selling their boats. Depressing - but it does make it easier to find a berth!

Last year, we put our name down for a mooring in Brittany.
We told there was waiting list - average waiting time 5-7 years.
Three weeks ago, was told we would most likely have a mooring next year.
