We are heading accross channel on 15/16 th july from Portsmouth towards Normandy with the intention of cruising east from Cherbourg returning 2 weeks later, visiting the usual places and aiming to return from Le Harve. We have done the Baie de la Seine before but what do forumites think of east of Le Havre, Fecamp to Dieppe etc worth going? Anyone been up the Seine towards Rouen? Anyone else in the area those weeks, come and say hello! We haven`t been east of Ouistreham for a few years, do Dives, Honfleur, Deauvilla still have their attractions, anywhere to avoid?!

If you are going up the river you will need the appropriate licence (CEVNI)

I have heard the Le Havre access for pleasure craft is a bit of a pain.

I have the same plan as yourself, just starting one week earlier - will keep an eye open for you. Le Havre / Fecamp etc, in my view are only worth bothering with as an all tide port to come home from. I have been up to Rouen - well worth the trip but there is quite a tidal bore to contend with on springs - despite the pilot books statement to the opposite!

We are (might) cross to St Vaast on Sunday 9th. Then may go east or west. If we do go east will look out for you.

Is this a Barbery Ketch?

We should be in Boulogne on the 17th-18th and down to Fecamp by about 20th-21st. Could be anywhere between those two. Will be plodding around the area until about the 27th-28th. Not in a hurry to go anywhere.

Dieppe is a pleasant, frenchy sort of place. Pontoons are right in the town with quayside fish market in the morning. Fecamp is smaller and a bit cuter - was a sort of artist colony at one time. You could go through the lock at Ouistrehamm and then up the canal to Caen. Have a good time.

The boat in the picture is similar but larger: you have to either seethem next to each other or count the coachroof windows, I may be an Alantic ketch from the same designer but about 40ft compared to our 32, we meet up with one from Yarmouth IOW a year or so back, Chubby ( motorsailor cogniscenti)

Amels look like that very expensive!Perhaps this looks more barrbar ketch!

Why dont you go further south!More bays more rocks better resturants and millions of shops selling frey bentos!

A mobo (fishing boat private) passed and a glass of wine went over my keyboard its still sticky any suggestions??And a laser bluetooth keyboard is to expensive (£110)

Sounds as if youll all have a great time good sailing and a good summer to you intrepid gastronomes!!
