Surprised we’ve not seen any other UK boats so far. Netherlands, French, Swiss, German. Of course the sunburn is a problem, and it’s darned hot, but the wine and berthing are cheap so we’re making do.
Currently St-Valery-En-Caux which has a three nights for two offer, excellent facilities, and an exceptionally exciting entrance with a 3.5m drying height 😱

The land of Calvados!

I was fortunate to visit Normandy many times and learnt loads. Favourite was St Vaast but the challenges of things like drying out on the wall in Barfleur, the tidal challenges of other small harbours....fab.

Another highlight was going through the canal to Caen. If you get the chance, take it!

Hope you enjoy your cruise and more photos please!

We’ve seen that from the ferry and do intend to go in. Not in a hurry so stopping in many places. This crazy hot weather helps a lot with the relaxed slow attitude.
Where are you going next?
Fécamp next if it has the depth. We were deeply aground (in mud) in Dieppe and tides are at their biggest right now so a little careful. Then on to Le Havre/Hornfleur I think but suggestions welcome. All the books seem to be wrong about almost everything so advice and experience is most welcome!

St. Valery is a lovely place, with some cracking restaurants. I've only ever visited in winter, when it was a bone chilling, bitter cold.
As an aside, my FIL was became a POW there in 1940.

16 degrees on the cockpit thermometer right now but warmer earlier and thebsun it very hot still.
Yes war pics up in the town showing the leftovers of landings, quite horrific

Honfleur is very good, don’t miss the Erik Satie museum.

Deauville is good for ogling very expensive shops with bouncers on the door. And Caen, go to the War Museum. Carentan also excellent, then St Vaast.
Second Erik Satie. The Boudin gallery is worth seeing too.

St Valery was always one of our favourite stops, in fact we used it as a base to see the 1999 eclipse. The memorial to the 51st Highland Division on the cliff to the east is worth visiting.

Dives/Cabourg is nice but may have a depth restriction for some. Courseulles is pleasant if a bit less interesting than some.

The temperature in Skye this week got to a balmy 12C. Back down in the Central Belt it was bit cooler at 11C. remember that when you are burnt and sweaty and can't get relief from the heat. Pah!

Neist Point and Light House, It Was Windy
The rain was biblical on two days with waterfalls being blown back up the cliffs and the water running on the road running up hill.

Enjoy the continent.

If you get a chance walk up the hill from Honfluer to see Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce. Try to be there on the hour to see the bells working.
