Noobie question about rough waters

Ohh, go boil your head!

We consider ourselves lucky to get a potholed 50 year old ramp covered in green slime & leading into a mix of mud & rocks, and a tide range of 10-12m!

Car parking in a muddy swamp where everybody knows you are out in a boat & won't be back for a while so they can nick all your gear.

But we don't have any silly regulations to stop us sailing! :p

heres where I launch from. Very nice ramp, room for one each side of the Jetty there (top right)
Theres also one bottom left closer to the slips which is usually the one I use as people cant see you doing something stupid there :D
They are both 'ribbed for your pleasure' meaning theres grooves cut horizontally for good grip when its wet. Not a problem for me but I have seen some people being dragged into the lake by the weight of their boat before lol

The one top right is the same ramp as my pic of me backing it in
My boat is currently in one of those covered slips, costs $90 a month. Not too bad

Its a catch 22 Steve, with no shiney-bummed civil servants to organise the building of the facilities, nothing got done, recreational boating was extremely low on the priority list.
Its been 10 years since this department was established, hardly ever/never see any presence on the water, they do send out a newsletter once a year to ask for any ideas where to build/improve the next facility in the coming year. They will include local imput to work towards the best outcome.
Thing is they do deliver the goods, and things have never been this good.

OTOH I haven't seen bureaucracy gone mad yet, which may come from the historic lay-back attitude ;)

Andie,
Many of your early "immigrants" were Irish which may explain the laid-back bit. We have been left with all the timid "Jobsworth" civil serpants that know they can't do anything wrong if they never do anything!

I couldn't see such a positive outcome back here.

Its a gutless slow pig, really even without the extra load.
AND its the I6 4.0 liter! Must be the big tires I guess but its a dog, hard to maintain 50mph on the hills on the interstates

i run a jeep grand cherokee 4.0l to pull a 18ft winner wild cat speed boat,it has a 5.7l chevy lump in the boat,so is quite a heavy boat!
the jeep will pull it up a mountain side!no prob's at all.

Yeah but you have what? 100 octane gas over there?

87 here

Im sure the jeep would pull it up a mountain, just very slowly. Struggles on the 'motorway' hills

mostly 95 octane.
its the larger wheels thats causing you the problem's.you've basicly changed the gear ratio's with the bigger tyres.
