Non slip

Hello all.

I have had new non slip done proffesionaly (International Paint) Some areas have not dried out after TWO weeks, it is still soft and appears smoother that the surrounding areas. I had a meeting with the people who did the job and in about 6 days they are to re-do the areas that need doing.

Question; Any ideas about why it is still soft/smooth. We are in the eastern Med and it is nice and HOT. We do get condensation on the decking over night, which I diligently mop off daily.

Why note send an e-mail to International tech support. see what they have to say. They are the real experts and it would be difficult for KGM to argue with them.

I dunno about the "soft" issue, but according to my friendly neighbourhood chandler International InterDeck (assuming that's what they used) needs stirring while you're using it so the aggregate doesn't settle out. He reckoned every 10 minutes.

If the person doing the painting didn't keep stirring the pot, or came back from a break and didn't stir, it's entirely possible that you've got a section that doesn't have enough aggregate in it.

I'm a long, long way from being an expert though. I've only looked into the stuff for use when I re-paint the floor of my dinghy - not even bought a can yet.

Asking International seems like it could be a good move.

Sorry if does not help you problem now. However, i have used international but never been happy with it got just about one season it rubbed through,was thin & lost it's grip. Yes i stired it regularly whilst putting it on.
Have now gone to premier paints, in my opinion a far superior product, ( i know i'll get shouted down) but this is my personal experience & opinion.Now using their antifoul.
Not sure if they would deliver abroad, don't see why not. I have nothing to do with the company just a very satisfied customer.

Thank you all those people who replied. It appears that the lack of STIRRING the paint was probably the answer.

Thanks Albert--I have sent a request to International Paint and explained the problem. Hopefully they will come back to me.
