Good afternoon Peeps:

I have just for something to do been looking at the engine bays of many "newer" boats and found that all especially now - have a "stainless" non slip flooring - looks akin to a reverse tyre thread pattern on some kind of I assume stainless steel plate ....

This is the only thing missing in my engine bay - it is just GRP down there and when it gets wet - or as it did over the last few weekends - whilst we did a head gasket change - get covered in oil and diesel it gets a little slippy.

Does anyone have any idea where one could get something made up - unfortunately Hardy (who made my boat originally ) stopped making them in 2000 and cannot help.

I could go to a local fabricators and get something made I suppose which would do the job - but thought that I would first pose the question here in case anyone has had this done already?

Many thanks in advance
Clive

I think it's called Admiralty Chequerplate, or it was when I was in the steel industry about 30 years ago. Look up steel Fabricators in your local Yellow Pages.

I think you can get it in aluminium, which would be lighter and cheaper. I'm sure I saw it in a catalogue somewhere but I can't remember which one! If it comes back to me I'll let you know.

Is this what you're after

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif yes indeed - I will approach them with the offer of remuneration for a role - next is to find something to cut it to shape with /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks again most helpful

Checker plate comes in aluminium, stainless and mild steel also you can also get checker pattern plastic floor covering.

Aluminium checker looks great but try kneeling on it without knee pads and it is murder.

Try non slip paint, smooth treadmaster or non slip linoleum.
