Although you can get some stainless ovenware for use on the boat, they tend not to be available for all requirements, and they do clatter around in the stowage.
Silicon ovenware has been around now for some time. we have some and are impressed. There is a good range here
Interesting that you should raise that Talbot, I have looked at them before but was put off as were quite pricy. But looking in one of our local homeware stores just last week prices have tumbled and now seem to be competitive with metal ovenware.
Apart from not clattering around they are also flexible so can better fit into the storage spaces available.
I think I will be getting some and maybe also for at home for use in the microwave (we do cakes, etc in that).
Have you (or anyone) had any experience baking bread or similar in the loaf tins (er loaf silicons /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)? - just wondering how the crust in the pan part turns out not being baked against hot metal.
Well I can tell you that Yorkshire puds were browned all over last night, and I donr remember the loaf we baked being a pallid imitation of real BREAD, or I would have noticed.
- all done and replaced with silicon. Daughter says thanks too - she gets to inherit the displaced metal ones /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
The other advantage that I had had in mind for these is that while cruising we usually wash dishes in salt water - a no no with metal (unless ss which for cake, muffin, etc pans is hard to come by) is not a problem with silicon.
