Hi,

I am looking for a non-labeled deck filler where the cap is captive and either requires no key or takes a winch handle (yes I know it might go overboard but I really don't want a keyed type). These at Norfolk Marine look ideal but they cannot supply unlabled versions : http://www.norfolkmarine.co.uk/shop-online/diesel-deck-filler-free50-p-3262.html

Anyone know where I can get non-labled deck fillers meeting my requirements ? I want to use it as a rope hawse pipe which is why I don't want a labeled version. Yes, I do know you can buy rope hawse pipes but there are no flush fitting ones available as far as I can see and that is an absolute requirement.

Material to be aluminium or stainless, chromed, bronze or brass types need not apply.

I would be grateful to all for not diverging into "I don't think you really want to do that" style of replies, obviously I do really want to do that or else I wouldn't be asking. Sorry to sound like Mr Grumpy...

What do you mean non-labeled? I don't see a label on it anywhere

Yes, the pic does show it unlabeled but in fact it is engraved with the type, eg "diesel", "waste", etc. Norfolk Marine cannot in fact suppply them in the pictured state :(

My deck fillers are the kind with a flush lifting half ring. I suppose you could use one like that, and just flush off the letters. It sounds like an awful guddle to have to thread your rode through every time.

The Vetus ones are labelled, but it is very light and not engraved. They are stainless and the lettering could be polished out.

I'm in favour of labelling after my mate filled his fuel tank with water. He's now painted them different colours to prevent it happening again. I think it's blue for water and red for diesel...............or was it the other way round?

:D
A boat had fuel starboard, water port. No, wait, the other way.... well, who cares.. so after few times it was no matter.
Now both midship tanks are water, fuel fill is at stern

Mine has them all in a line (including pump-out for a non-existent holding tank) together on the side deck, but they at at least labelled.

My current boat has water on deck, fuel fills in cockpit :p
For OP: just remembered - plastic fills (I know, not what was asked) from seadog or lalizas are universal, have no labels, they provide them separately. Maybe they do metal too; seadog kind has a lift handle in it.
Another thought: how about a plug glued-on the chain end, old fashioned way, to close the hawse pipe?
