Hi-I have just recieved one of these Chinese copies from an ebay supplier for £44.99 delivered. It is well made and so far all the bits appear to be interchangable with the genuine Racor.

I am very immpressed so far. I cleared a little fraze from the mounting holes, ran a tap into the threaded holes for the unions-the powdercoating has got on the threads-and threw away the supplied element and fitted a genuine Racor one.
It has the internal floating ball which cuts fuel supply off should water get in in large quantities. The O rings may be of questioable quality, but genuine Racor elements come with these, so easily rectified should they prove inadequate.

Excellent value for money. I will fit it soon with a 10 micron element after the OE Racor 500 which has a 30 micron element. This should extend the life of the 10 micron Yanmar filter, which is a bugger to change and also expensive.

The Racors are top loading so are much easier and cleaner to change or service.

Service report when it has been in use for a while.

95% of Virgin Pendolino train AC compressors have these Headman / Rongsun filters fitted. Excellent quality, and this is a statement made having installed 468, following extensive quality assessment checks on the media, assembly methods and compatibility checks with the oils and refrigerants used in these machines.

They also manufacture for well known brands such as Unipart, they just change the paint finish, like many branded names.

I had the 900 on my last boat.

The filter elements are slightly different to Racor. I have a box full going v cheap if interested, as I don't have these on my new boat, both 500 and 900 size.

I rather like the integral fixing bracket rather than the Racor clamp ..... but the user review is not confidence-inspiring and I'm sure a Forumite has made a similar comment in a previous thread.

99.9% positive feedback should be confidence inspiring. Yes the seller has some negatives, but with that number of sales that is inevitable. If you read all the negatives from the last 6 months, two are actually positives, so the users must have hit the wrong button, and none of them relate to this particular product. As a very experienced ebayer user, as both seller and buyer, I would be happy to buy from them.

I would be more concerned that the integrated clamp would mean I couldn't put my solid racor bowls on for BSS purposes without buying additional clamps.

Errrrr

There is one 1-start rating which says "This filter is not a RACOR it is a poorly made copy. I bought two of these and they both leaked air from the top seal through bad machining to the top"

Never had this issue with the one's I had, and you would know straight away. When we were buying direct from the factory in China I bought several cartons of the elements, which although excellent, would not quite fit a Racor when I sold them on Ebay for that purpose, so I have since given up trying.

I have black plastic Fleetguard pre filters on my Corvette, which I don't like because you can't see if there is any water or crud accumulating, and if I change them I would use these Racor style without question, besides I have plenty of elements.

I have just bought some vacuum gauges for install so I will breaking into the lines to fit these so I guess the ideal change for an upgrade. I am happy to let you know if I have any issues with the next ones I buy.

I am going to find the price of the Racor hollow top fixing bolt that takes a vac gauge, or bore and tap my existing ones to take the gauges if the Racor ones are poor value. Might be possible to find ready made bolts/adaptors at a hydraulic specialist.

I think the fewer joins in the flexible pipes the better

I'd really like to have a source of cheaper Racor filters rather than the whole unit. In time, the filters add up to a much bigger cost.

How often are you changing them? I change mine when I can see that they need changing so the costs are negligible ..... and I have two.

Richard
Twice a year times two, but sometimes my fuel gets crappy and I can go through half a dozen in a week. Cost is maybe £70 per year on average. Not terrible, but I'd prefer it to be less.

I see .... that is a lot more often than I'm sure most of us would normally do. It sounds like you have some diesel bug problems in your tank which you might think about tackling with biocide if you're not doing so already. I won't say any more as there are plenty of threads about this.

Genuine Racor elements from ASAP are around a tenner each.

The Yanmar 10 micron for our new boat list price is about 50 quid genuine or 16 quid pattern.

That makes the easy to change racors a real result.

Zing-Richard is correct-you must have contamination in your fuel. Try Marine 16 to kill the bug. The residue of dead bug will be collected over two or three filter changes and will subsequently not be a problem. Regular doseing of Marine 16 will keep the fuel clean.

It does for me anyway.

I am not sure where you are looking to see that. I am looking at the negative reviews for this seller on the eBay link posted by Nigel. Your mention of 1 star, sounds like Amazon review. Can you post a link?
