I want to get a pc monitor the same size and thickness as a 17" laptop screen.

Does such a thing exist? The laptop screens seem to be 5mm thick, while monitors are much thicker.

I want to relay the chartplotter output to it, and use a Garmin mouse to control it. Overall saving about £1500.

Just cant find a suitable v flat monitor.

Cheers

would it be possible to find an old 17" laptop with a good screen, but otherwise broken internals ? Power supply and signal to screen required, though.

I've just bought a Linsar 16" LCD tv that has a PC input and that's unbelievably thin.

the fly in th ointment with that is it's mains powered, but if you can find one cheap (mine only cost £36 from ebay) you might be able to butcher it to do what you want and find a way to power it from 12V
