Or has been presented in another thread, with just 600 privately owned yachts in China, thats one lifeboat per 100 boats...... what a great safety rate!
Come to think of it, after 4 years living in HK, 3 of those working on a MOBO, and 2 working offshore China, I don't recall ever seeing a lifeboat. But I think there's a darn sight more than 600 privately owned boats there, probably almost that in Aberdeen Harbour alone. HK being China. And Macau.
I know - The Malay ones were similar - usually crewed by local Military - so they reckon - I used to sail through Malacca during the height of the Pirate seasons ... one of our ships was actually stopped and raided .... Master was tied to chair, beaten etc.
Corner? What's one of those. Apparently the police would catch them by shooting out the fuel lines either from another fast boat- often a captured Dai Fei (one of these), or a copter.
When I was there we used a LOT of white para flares, for 'illumination'.
It's amazing how often, in the heat of the chase, those white flares went off almost horizontally and chased the pirates across the water!
BTW, those 5 250Hp engines would drive the boat loaded with a Toyota Landcruiser at 60 + knots - quite a sight with no lights, middle of night, coming straight at you out of the dark...
Corner- meant there aint much hope of them doing one, no reference to another post. Just me going off at a tangent.
All they had to do was get from HK Island to Ling Ding Dao (kind of colloq version of the name of a little island just inside Chinese waters, well known for it's nefarious activities).
