Jerbro,

Can you remind me how you have set the camera up. Do you just dial into it or does it notify you etc? We want to set some up to watch over an outside area where boats are kept. Maybe I could give you a ring sometime to discuss your findings. If send me a private message with your number.

THAT IS SOOOOOO COOOOOOL.

Can you force it to send you a picture? Or is it just motion activated. I would love to use it, just as a webcam. To see if the boat is still there, what the weather is like, and just to oggle my darling (sry, not talking about SWMBO)

Can you have one camera looking at five boats (buy it together) and anyone can dial in?

"Can you force it to send you a picture? Or is it just motion activated."

It does both. To get it to send you a picture, send "image phonenumber/email" via text to the camera and it will send you an MMS or an email. To set up motion detection, text "detection on 3" to the camera (the 3 tells it to take 3 pictures in a row). it will send the pictures to the default destination (email or phone) depending on your settings. It will send a text saying "motion detected" to your phone regardless of where the image goes.

"Can you have one camera looking at five boats (buy it together) and anyone can dial in?"

Yes. Depending on where you position the camera, it could view 5 boats. The camera itself is not waterproof so you'd have to construct a waterproof housing. It can be set to allow anyone to dial in or can restrict viewing to a list of upto 20 requesting phone numbers. Only one of these can be set as the master and allow settings to be changed remotely.

You can request pictures by demand, on motion detection and at timed intervals - all configurable via SMS.

I've sent you a PM.

so, questions, questions......

how much does it cost per photo?

How long does the upload take?

Is this running off the ships power?

How much is your monthly subs?

Is yours the cheapest option, or is there a cheaper cam?

how much does it cost per photo?

Depends on how much your mobile network operator charges for Picture Messaging - probably between 25p and 50p

How long does the upload take?

Again depends on size of image. You can select 3 sizes and 3 levels of quality within each size. Mine is set to largest/best quality and file size is between 55kb and 40kb. Takes anywhere between 5-15 minutes.

Is this running off the ships power?

Yes. But you can get a battery pack.

How much is your monthly subs?

Depends on what deal you can get from your mobile operator. You need a SIM enabled with SMS, MMS and GPRS. I've got a pay monthly SIM on a talkshare account from Orange (my whole family share the bundled minutes from the one account). I just added another subscription to this.

Is yours the cheapest option, or is there a cheaper cam?

I've not seen anything cheaper. I've seen some specialist monitoring stuff, but this is the only consumer oriented complete easy to use package I've seen.

Hi Jebro,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you the other weekend but unfortunatly I did my back in laying moorings. I must be more careful in future.

What I need to know though is where di you get your power lead to run your camera from battery? I have bought a camera but the leads don't seem to be available at the moment.
