The owners of the marina where we berth have recently received a letter from the residents in the surrounding plush flatlets asking them to address their following complaints (please bear in mind that this marina is on the south coast): a) there are too many seagulls, their noise disturbs them; b) the fisherman go out too early, their noise disturbs them; and c) does the marina have to blow the foghorn when it's foggy, the noise disturbs them!!

Well, don't wind them up!

a) all seagulls have been banned at a meeting of the bertholders.

b) the fishermen will go out much, much later. (24hrs should do it)

c) The foghorn is used to attempt to warn off the seaguills which might otherwsie damage the flats and crap on their cars. Sometimes, the seagulls seem to operate the horn.

Didn't they mention that fact that all that wet stuff makes it difficult for them to get to the shops on the other side, and as such could it be drained? This must rate alnogside those people who buy houses near airports and then complain about the noice of the planes!

I don't think anyone pointed out to them that the ground floor flats are below sea-level (very much below sea-level on a high tide), ergo: very high tide + high winds = paddling. Still, should take their mind of the noise pollution!

This joke probably does not require CE approval, as it was in wide circulation in the EEA when Noah came off the ark.

Are, this must be Eastbourne then.....

I know the trouble as we are supporters of the Goodwood Motor Racing circuit and it took the Earl of March over 4 years to finally get permission to hold the Revival meeting despite concessions about how many days they could run 'noisy' cars and most of the protesters don't even live within earshot of the track!

Aye! There's nowt such strange as folks. We had some guy
move to our village from London who complained to the Council about the Mooing of the Cows at the farm and the crowing of the Cockerels.

Year before last I fitted a new mikuni heater and when I spent a night on board during the winter I had the heater running all night and I had a complaint about the noise from one of the new flats around Exmouth docks.

I ask you how stupid and petty can people be.
