NOAA ENC charts with openCPN

I had a play recently with openCPN on Mac OSX. It looks interesting. However, I think I must be doing something stupid with the charts.


I downloaded an entire CG region of NOAA ENC charts - 211 charts, a total of 125Mb as a zipped file.

I pointed openCPN to the directory which contains these, it seemed to find them and buzz away incorporating them for a few minutes. But when I come to look at them, I seem to only see the largest scale chart that covers the entire area. I can see no detail at all, no matter how far in I zoom. But there must be fine scale charts in that bundle, so why won't openCPN zoom through into them ?

Depending on the mode, you may need to click on the bars at the bottom to choose the chart. I think you can turn seemless zooming on in the preferences window
